Waxing is one of the oldest forms of hair removal. When you choose to wax , you get smooth silky skin every time. When you stay on a wax routine, your hair may choose to grow back thinner and more sparse depending on your body’s chemistry. Waxing leaves you with less skin irritation unlike shaving. You’ll never want to touch a razor to your body again after a few months of regular waxing! Here at One Woman Spa we will wax almost every area of the body, including men. We offer a discreet environment for you if you are a little shy about waxing. Our professional estheticians have had extensive waxing education and can answer all your questions.

Waxing FAQs:

Q: How long should my hair be to get waxed
A: about 1/4 inch long. Any shorter and the wax can’t grab the hair. Anything over 1” makes the wax clump up and can cause breakage of the hair, or tearing of the skin.

Q: Will waxing cause my hair to grow back darker and thicker??
A: DON’T BALD MEN WISH!!! Your hair growth patterns solely depend on your genetics! If your Genes say your hair will be dark, then your hair will be dark. Actually with regular waxing some of the hair follicles die and will not re-grow a bulb, so for a lot of clients, the waxing process makes their hair thinner and lighter.

Q: How often should I get waxed?
A: Every 4-6 weeks. Here at One Woman Spa we try to fit you right in the 5 week mark. Less than 4 weeks doesn’t give your hair enough time to complete a growth cycle, and more than 6 weeks makes you a virgin wax all over again.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: Uh, yes. But not childbirth traumatizing hurt. It hurts like ripping a bandaid off your furry forearm. It hurts more the first time than any other time. Why? Because each time you wax you are removing less hair. If you stay on a regular waxing routine, then eventually it is barely a sting.

Q: Will my hair ever stop growing?
A: No. It will thin out over time. but not stop growing over all. Waxing does not kill the follicle the way electrolysis does.

Q: Do I have to get the “back side” done if I want a Brazillian?
A: NO! If you don’t want it, you don’t have to have it.
